“I Was Against Israel. Then I Went There.”

Claire spoke to Ariel Whitman on The Western Spirit, a podcast focusing on the challenges of the West from a conservative, classically liberal and libertarian perspective.

She explained why she was once deeply critical of Israel, why she was initially afraid to visit the country – and what she discovered when she finally went. She also argues that Israel represents something much of the modern West has lost: confidence in national identity, sovereignty and its own civilization.

They also discussed the explosion of anti-Israel sentiment after October 7, Islamism, Britain’s hate-speech laws, the policing of controversial opinions, victimhood culture, the transformation of the political left and why Claire believes a dangerous “soft authoritarianism” is taking hold in Britain.
